Singapore's transportation system is so efficient that you can get to almost anywhere with little to no hassle. However, if you have time to spare, you should also try the Singapore River Cruise. See the sights along the Singapore River at a leisurely pace, take in the scenery, and experience Singapore from a different vantage point.
The Singapore River Cruise takes you along the Singapore River downstream towards the Marina Bay and Bayfront areas aboard a bumboat. There are multiple stops along the Singapore River including the major quay areas: Robertson Quay, Clarke Quay, and Boat Quay.
The Singapore River Cruise also offers various tours along the Singapore River like the "Tale of Two Quays" tour which is a round-trip ride to and from Clarke Quay with on-board commentary describing the history of the side along the banks of the river.
During our trip, we took the bumboat river taxi from Robertson Quay. We were kind of bummed that we won't get the on-board commentary that is featured on the Tale of Two Quays tour. Surprise, surprise! We were delighted to discover that even the river taxis have on-board commentaries and video presentations depicting the history of the sites we passed.
Right around the middle of our "cruise", it started raining so we were forced to go back inside the bumboat for the rest of the ride. We got off at our stop, Merlion Park, and waited for the rain to stop there before going to our next destination.
Fares vary according to the distance between the stops. There are also separates fees for the various tours.
